Investigation of the Selectivity of the Water Shutoff Technology

High water-cut oil production is one of the major issues in petroleum industry. The present study investigates different profile control solutions, with an emphasis on selective methods and materials that mostly decrease permeability water-saturated reservoir areas. To achieve water flow blockage fractured porous media, sodium silicate-based gel-forming composition was developed. test procedure created to assess strength characteristics presented composition. According results this procedure, adding polyatomic alcohols mentioned enhances its hydrophilic behavior rocks (work adhesion increases from 117 129 mJ/m2) reduces hydrophobic oil-saturated drops 110.3 77.4 mJ/m2). selectivity performance validated by higher wettability compared oil-saturated; thus, creates a more stable shutoff barrier when entering zone formation. As result core flooding experiments natural, fractured, samples, efficiency blocking capacity proved. In addition, these tests showed because samples than ones. experimental value coefficient 152.14.
